Other information:
The Ernst Museum, which has a significant past of exhibitions, and the Dorottya Gallery have belonged to the same institution since 2000. While the Ernst Museum presents the art of the 20th century, the Dorottya Gallery is an exhibition place of contemporary art. Today, without an own collection, two ideas are represented in the Ernst Museum: on one hand in the spirit of 'new history of art' its aim is to present the significant ouevres, branches and genres of modern Hungarian art and architecture, which have been little known or acknowledged so far, on the other hand the exhibitions are completed with events of attendant arts and high standard catalogues. The Ernst Museum has awaited its visitors with a new service since the summer of 2003. As the library of Lajos Németh, art historian, has been moved to the Ernst Museum visitors of the museum can freely read these books which abundantly present the art of the 20th century during opening hours.
