Other information:

The Hungarian Museum of Natural Sciences is the third oldest museum in Europe. More than 10 million exhibits are preserved in its scientific collections. The exhibitions present the natural beauties of the Carpathian-basin and the world in a new, interactive way. In 2004 the exhibition and visitor halls are to be extended by 2000 square metres, which will make the museum suitable for meeting the demands of the 21st century. The valuable collections from abroad contribute to the wide variety of the collections. At the opening ceremony in September 2004 visitors will be able to see the sceleton of a 22 m long fin-whale hung in the glass dome of the main entrance and an African water habitat. Entering the coral reef connecting the new buildings visitors can see in their full beauty the water habitats of the fauna and flora in the aquariums filled with 13,000 litre salt water and hidden in the glass floor. On the occasion of the opening the museum will be the first in Middle-Europe to present the world-famous sensation: the flying reptiles found in China and the remains of dinosaurs found in Hungary.

Opening hours during the season: I.01.-XII.31.:Sze:-H: 10-18h
