A new cultural facility of Szentendre was established by the restoration of a 19th industrial monument, the sawmill. The first stage of the investment was finished in 1998: the new building houses temporary exhibitions on the three floors of the 700 m2 exhibition area. The exhibition presents the works of fine and applied arts by local artists and by those related with Szentendre, and it is also involved in contemporary arts by organizing national and international exhibitions. Apart from this, the institution presents the collection of the uniquely rich arts of Szentendre in an outstanding exhibition every year. In the wing and in the courtyard of the building events of related arts are held. It is a venue for contemporary arts festivals, theatre performances, films, concerts.
