The Péter Veres Memorial exhibition was opened in 1975. The building used to be the house of poet, writer, politician Péter Veres from Balmazújváros and was donated to the city by his family after his death. The house, which is a traditional three-part cottage, was built at the end of the 1800s. The exhibition, which was established by István Kilián and Lajos Lakner based on Péter Veres' inheritance, presents his living conditions in Balmazújváros as well as his later career.
