The palace that houses the Museum of Applied Arts was built in 1896 in the style of Art Nouveau, and is one of the most beautiful public buildings of the capital. The core of the collection is made up by the masterpieces of European applied arts from the Middle Ages till today. Besides the temporary exhibitions of its own works of art the museum gives place to national and foreign exhibitions which present the pieces of old times and contemporary applied arts and industrial design.
The history of its collection is presented at a permanent exhibition from the end of February 2006.
