in Balatonszabadi:   Hotel

A village of 2,800 inhabitants in the north-east corner of county Somogy, on the banks of the Sió-channel, 6 km from Siófok. The archeological relics of the settlement date back to the age of Bronze as well as to the age of Celts and Romans. It was first mentioned in records in 1358 under the name of Zabadi. In 1444 it was called Fokszabadi and it was situated north of the present settlement, closer to the bank, in a place which is called Pusztatorony now (the remains of the old mediaeval ruins can still be seen).

The relics of folk architecture in the village and the churches are worth visiting. The oldest one is the Roman Catholic church built in 1778 in Baroque style, which was dedicated to Saint Anne. The late Baroque parish of the church was built at the beginning of the 19th century.
