Settlement with 2,080 inhabitants in the Cserhát Mountains 25 km south of Balassagyarmat. There are three castles in the village. The Bene-Teichmann castle and Kállay castle were built in Baroque style, the Berczelly mansion is in Classicist style from the 1840s. The Roman Catholic church was consecrated in 1767. There is a Diana statue in the yard of the parsonage, the statue for the Suffering Christ on Templompart is a little older. In Jákotpuszta, which belongs to the village, can be found the South-Cserhát Oecological Centre. Their main aim is to preserve the ancient Hungarian domestic animals. The demonstration farm can be visited.
