Karos is a village with 520 inhabitants in Bodrogköz. Several important relics including the graves of the chieftains of Árpád were found in the 1970s. The decorated swords, belt fittings and plates on the bags prove that the main chieftain of the Hungarians built the centre of his reign in this region. It is commemorated by the restored cemetery belonging to the Archaeological Park of the Hungarian Conquest near the village. An obelisk on a small hill shows the place of the excavated 73 graves. In Karos you can visit the Calvinist church and a carved headboard erected on the 1100th anniversary of the Hungarian conquest, which can be seen on the Church hill.
