The village is situated 14 km north of M3 motorway, in the picturesque Bükkalja, along the brook Kácsi. It has 1,541 inhabitants. It has favourable natural features for viticulture and viniculture. A unique characteristic of the neighbourhood is the seven-storey row of cellars. Sights include the Baroque Gencsy mansion, the neo-Classical Bottlik mansion, the Roman Catholic church built in late Baroque style with some neo-Classical elements added later and the statue of St. John of Nepomuk in Rococo style. Another nice sight is the Mausoleum of the Bottlik family in the village cemetery, with a group of statues from Carrara marble. The Halassy mansion is ready for restoration and utilization. |
