in Vizsoly:   Sight

Village with 992 inhabitants to the northeast of Miskolc, in the vicinity of national highway No. 3. The first Hungarian Bible, the so called Vizsoly Bible of Gáspár Károlyi, pastor at Gönc, was printed here in 1590. The 13th-14th century medieval church with beautiful frescoes was excellently restored. A copy of the famous Bible is on display. There is also a Roman and a Greek Catholic church in the village, both from the 19th century. The Vizsoly quarry is a geological exhibition site, the volcanic tuff found here was used as a walling material for several centuries.
