The village with 120 inhabitants is situated in the middle of Balaton Highlands in the vicinity of Nagyvázsony. It was a villein village of the castle estate in Vázsonykő in the Middle Ages. After the Turkish conquest it was depopulated and two village centres were formed: Magyar- and Németbarnag preserved the nationality of their inhabitants in their names. The 18th century houses with Baroque ridge and iron shutters are outstanding examples of folk architecture. |
