Town with 9,272 inhabitants with the first bridge over the Danube, 90 kms south of Budapest. The four-storey, quadrangular Turkish Tower, built for the defence of the river-crossing, is of the 16th century. It houses the Museum of Local History. The Franciscan church (1786) and one-time Franciscan monastery (1790) are both late Baroque buildings. The Roman Catholic parish church and the Baroque Greek Orthodox church are from 1729 and from the 18th century respectively. Other sights include the statue of St. John of Nepomuk and the Monument of the Holy Trinity.
