The settlement with 3,030 inhabitants is situated halfway between Veszprém and Várpalota. It was first mentioned in documents in 1343. It was a village of the Veszprém bishopric from the Middle Ages to 1848. The church was built in 1747, its tower was added later in 1774. The largest artillery barracks of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy were built at the turn of the last century, it was used as a military establishment until the Soviet troops left Hungary. The cemetery of the soldiers of World War I and World War II can be found near the barracks. The Village Days of Hajmáskér are held at the second weekend of August (Friday-Saturday).
