The large village of nearly 3,000 inhabitants is situated 18 km west of Paks (road No. 63), in the north of county Tolna. It is the centre of the micro-region of the surrounding small villages. Its history dates back to the period before the Hungarian conquest. In the 18th century the village became the property of the Széchenyi family. The former Széchenyi mansion serves as a school today. Sights include the Hat and Cap Museum, the regional village house, the Széchenyi mansion, the water-tower, the Calvinist church built in 1774, the monument of World Wars I. and II., the 44 ha Szenes pasture, Danube-Dráva National Park.
