Village with 1,000 inhabitans on the river Zala, at the western foot of Csápordi hill belonging to the wine region of Balaton. The Roman Catholic church, which is a listed monument, was rebuilt in 1717. Its main altar is decorated with neo-Baroque wood-carving, while the pulpit is decorated with 18th century peasant Baroque wood-carving. The vineyards of Pakod attract not only lovers of wine. Most of the cellars are very old, 200-year-old vaults are not rare but older wooden doors and buildings can also been seen on the picturesque paths. |
