Village with 3,223 inhabitants at the northeastern foot of the Mátra Mountains. One of the most important precious metal mining settlements in Hungary. There is a centuries-old history of gold, silver and copper mining here. An ill-famed sight of the village is the Recsk National Memorial Park. Other sights: Regional House of Folk Art, Lake Búzásvölgyi and the Exhibition of the History of Mining in the Community Centre.
