A small town with 9,843 inhabitants at the intersection of national highways No. 61 and 65, 38 km from Lake Balaton. Its main tourist attraction is the thermal bath with its medicinal waters. The thermal water with alkaline hydrogen carbonate content makes excellent results in the treatment of locomotor diseases. The most beautiful monument of Tamási is the Gothic Rozália Chapel, built on the Calvary Hill. The furnishing of the Roman Catholic church completed in 1745 is worth seeing. The stones of the former castle, built after the Mongolian invasion, were used to erect the Baroque hunting lodge of Miklós Esterházy. The world famous Gyulaj fallow deer lives in the 36,000 hectare forest in the fields of the town. The Tamási International Equestrian Days are annually organized combined to the 20th August celebrations. Opportunities for a substantial holiday making for all age groups are offered by the sights, accommodation and catering facilities of Tamási.
