Uzsa is located 12 kms from Lake Balaton and Tapolca. One of the largest whinstone mines of the country can be found. The name of the village originates from an ancient Hungarian personal name, Uza. It was first mentioned in documents by the name Usa in 1247. Bronze treasures were found in the new bed of Lesence brook in the Uzsa valley. They are the relics of the culture of an ancient settlement. The ruins of a medieval Paulite monastery can be found near the 'Szentlélek' (Holy Spirit') spring. The forests of Uzsa are rich in game. The village has more than 400 inhabitants. The Hubertus hunting lodge and its surroundings can be reached easily from the road No. 84. The environs of Sarvay spring are nice beauty spots.
