in Zalabaksa:   Hotel

A village of 745 inhabitants in county Zala. Its sights include the marble memorial plaque of Danilo Kis, the Serbian-Hungarian writer, on the school wall. He studied in the neihghbouring Kerkabarabás and later in this school. In the cemetery you can see Annus Kósa’s tomb, a crypt surrounded by a fence and a broken marble column. The folk ballad from the 1920s is about the tragical love of Annus Kósa, the rich peasant girl and Pál Bíró, the poor peasant boy in 1921. The modern building of the Catholic church was built between 1988-92.
