On the southern side of the Vértes hills you can find a varied landscape with steep broken rocks, deep valleys and bare dolomite slopes. The climate of the southern hillsides with low precipitation is similar to that of the Mediterranean regions, and as a result the plants show Mediterranean, Submediterranean characteristics. Walking along the 3,5 km long study trail you can see these thermophile plants varied with rare plants which typically grow on dolomite. On your way in autumn you can see flaming red sumac, the oriental hornbeam, which can be found only here in Hungary, and the fragrant cottage pink blooming on the dolomite rock-bed.
