Village with 1,500 inhabitants 16 km east of Komárom on the bank of the Danube. The Baroque Roman Catholic church is from 1754. The Calvinist was built in the 15th century as a Gothic Benedictine abbey church. In Turkish times it was transformed into a jami. In the Calvinist cemetery Julia Vajda's tomb can be seen, she was Lilla in the poems of Mihály Csokonai Vitéz. A natural resource is the sulphurous thermal water (24 degrees C) from two wells called Lilla Well and Szigeti Well. |
