The village of 2,600 inhabitants is accessible on road No. 52 from Solt in the eastern direction. Fülöpszállás was occupied by the Cumans in 1124, under the reign of Stephen II and they called the village Buzgánszállás. After the Mongol invasion bishop Philip from Fermo started to convert the Cumans and the village was probably named after him. Its sight can be found in the main square. The mellow old building of the village hall was built in 1908. The Calvinist church was built in 1750 in baroque style. In front of the church you can see the monument of the heroes of the World Wars. At the beginning of V. Herpai street, you can find a Roman Catholic house of prayer with a baroque front. |
