Village with 3,720 inhabitants 7 km south of Kecskemét. The 107 years old settlement was established on the wind-blown sand of 2,000 ha purchased by Ede Wéber, a teacher from Balatonfüred in 1892, resided in Switzerland at that time. He settled 92 families on the territory purchased from Kecskemét; they built houses, a school and a church there. The replica of the Italian Miremare castle was also built here. The name "Helvécia" was given to the settlement in accordance with the founder's testimony. Exhibition on the life and works of Ede Wéber and of the pictures of János Bozsó. The wide-spread world of farms surrounding the village is characteristic to Alföld.
