Kisbajcs was first mentioned in records as a village inhabited by the church noblemen of the episcopate of Győr. They erected a guard-post (1582), they watched the crossing places of the Danube, and they built ramparts in the part of the village called Táborhely (1594). In this village of Szigetköz people earned their living mostly by shipping, milling and fishing. Two thirds of the village was flooded, the present image of the village was created after reconstruction. Going to Szőgye from Kisbajcs, on the right you can see the Szavai-channel offering a wide variety of flora. One of the most important beauty spots of Szigetköz can be found here, the so-called Nádrét with its rich fauna.
