Small town with 7,079 inhabitants on the Great Hungarian Plain close to the Romanian border, 16 km from Battonya. Its historic past dates back to the 7th century. In 1463 it got the rank of market town from King Matthias. The Hungarians and Slovaks settled by the Bittó family grew tobbacco here. It became a town in 1986. The Park bath has medicinal thermal water. A camp site, sports grounds and gyms await visitors. Catering is based on traditional Hungarian dishes accompanied by friendly rural atmosphere. Sights: Catholic, Calvinist and Baptist churches, the public statue of Chieftain Csanád.
