It was first mentioned in records in 1270, when King Stephen V granted an eternal charter to the settlement. Later it did not belong to the Őrség region strictly. It was first called Monorosd, then Magyarósd and the name Őrimagyarósd has been used since 1907. It was owned by the Nádasdi Darabos and later by the Batthyányi family. The fortified Nádasdi mansion was used as a border castle during the Turkish times. Its sights include the Lutheran church and lake Vadása nearby. |
