The village with 375 inhabitants is situated 18 km from Sopron, on the bank of the brook Ikva. It was inhabited as early as the Roman times. It was first mentioned in records in 1324. An important sight is the church of Virgin Mary built in 1852 in the place of the old church. It is a middle-towered, single-naved simple building. Its interior is neo-Gothic, except the statue of 'The Meeting of Mary and Elizabeth' originating from the old church. It was made around 1700. The paintings are by István Dorfmeister. Next to the church, on a column you can see a statue of Mary from 1673 and a statue of the Holy Trinity made around 1750. The Statue of St. John of Nepomuk in Arany János street is from the 18th century. The Simon mansion was built around 1830 in Classicist style. The village became independent in 1990 with the formation of the local council. At present a leisure park awaits visitors, too.
