The village is located on the right part of Sárvíz valley in Fejér county, 10 kms from Székesfehérvár, 20 kms from Lake Velence, about 30 kms from Lake Balaton. It is one of the oldest settlements of the county. It was already inhabited in the prehistoric age, there are several archeological findspots, where graves and remains of settlements from the Bronze, Teutonic, Avar age and the age of Árpád's conquest of Hungary were excavated. One of the most significant archeological finds is the excavation of the villa from Roman period. This is the largest uncovered villa of Pannónia from the ancient times, its size is 110x120 m. It has not proved yet but it is possible that the famous Seuso treasure come from here. Other sight of Szabadbattyán is the Kula tower built in the Middle Ages. It is the remains of Csíkvár fortification. An exhibition place awaits visitors in the tower renovated in 1975. Other sight is the almost 7 hectare nature conservation area, the Cifrakert. There are more than 40 protected primeval platan trees. A big tourist investment is due in Cifrakert. Besides visiting sights one can fish in the fishing pond with good infrastructure. The accommodations of village tourism welcome guests. Outstanding event is the Village Day in August.
