in Szatymaz:   Hotel - Sight - Wellness, Spa - Business Travel

It is a settlement of 4500 inhabitants to the north of Szeged, by Lake Fehér. Its church dedicated to King St. Stephen was built in 1902 and reconstructed in 1938. In the church yard there is the monument of the two world wars. It is worth visiting the wind-mill of Enying, which is an important sight of the history of industry. The Postakocsi inn existed already in the time of Joseph II. and was an important relay station of horses between Szeged and Kistelek. Around the settlement one can still see the scattered farms that are so characteristic of this region. Here is the biggest sodic lake of the Great Hungarian Plane called Lake Fehér (white). The water surface is not as big as it used to be, but due to fish-breeding and the reeds the bird population is almost as big as that of Small-Balaton. With half an hour walking from the inn one can reach a watchtower, which is a perfect place for observing the birds and the environment. On hot days, at the northern part of the lake one can still see the rare natural phenomenon, the mirage. The village is also famous for its orchards especially for its world-famous peach.
