Town with 5,800 residents 40 km east of Budapest on M3 motorway. Relics of the school-days in Aszód of the poet Sándor Petőfi are shown the Petőfi-Museum. The Lutheran church is from the 15th century, rebuilt in Baroque style, its altar-piece carved from wood is remarkable. There are frescoes from 1746 in the Baroque Podmaniczky mansion.
