in Csetény:   Sight - Travel Service

A village of 2,039 inhabitants. It is situated 13 km from Zirc, along the road between Zirc and Budapest, in the slope of East-Bakony. The village, which was inhabited during the Hungarian conquest, was a royal property first, later it was owned by the counts of Esterházy. It was this family which built a mansion here in the first half of the 18th century. The Holitscher mansion was named after its last owner. In the mansion you can find an exhibition of local history, a library, an e-Magyarország spot, and it is open to the public on weekdays, in the afternoons with guidance. The building is surrounded by a 200-year-old, nearly 9 ha well-kept park, where you can find a chapel of the same age. The late-Baroque Calvinist church was built on the ruins of the former Romanesque church. The village with its accommodation and catering facilities is an ideal starting point for excursions in the neighbourhood, in the High-Bakony. Outstanding programmes are the village day on the second weekend of July and the vintage day held in the middle of September.
