The village of 545 inhabitants is situated north of Veszprém, in one of the most beautiful regions of High Bakony. The area of the present village was already inhabited 2500-3000 years ago in the late Bronze, early Iron Age. Then it was depopulated, it was resettled only in the 18th century. The neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church, which can be seen here, was built in 1868-1869. At the beginning of the 18th century Germans and Slovaks were settled here. It has been an administratively independent village since 1st January 1993, before that it had belonged to the town of Zirc for 9 years. It has a German nationality nursery school and a school. Due to its clean, peaceful surroundings in the Bakony hills it is becoming a popular excursion spot. |
