Göd was given the rank of town in 1999, it has 15,000 inhabitants and it is situated between Budapest and the Danube Bend, on the left bank of the river at national highway No. 2. In charters, first mentioned in 1225. Its first castle, the giant Roman fortress was built by commander Frigeridus against the Kvads in 374 A.D. The foundations of the Roman camp were partly excavated in 2000-2001. Outstanding sights include the stable where the "wonder mare" Kincsem was prepared for her victorious international races. The untouched bank of the Danube, the thermal bath, which is open all year round, its golf course of international reputation, its tennis courts and horse riding farms make the village constantly popular with the lovers of excursions and recreation. It also provides opportunities for water sports. The bicycle road running through Göd connects the capital city with the Danube bend. The friendly restaurants in beautiful environment await both the locals and the tourists.
