Village with about 1,500 inhabitants next to Lake Tisza, west of Tiszafüred, close to road No. 33. The ancient settlement was part of the estate of the wife of Duke Géza (10th century), the name of the place was given by her. The characteristic old peasant houses and the church, beautiful in its simplicity, give a lasting experience. Various forms of waterside holiday making are available at the lake. Programmes in Sarud attracting visitors are linked together by the so called Traditional Weeks from June to August. The opening event is the harvest festival with procession of folk costumes on the day of St. Peter and Paul, then there are concerts, presentations of folk crafts, tasting of gastronomical specialities and many more curiosities. An outstanding event is the two-day performance of the Sarud wedding feast.
