The Danube-Ipoly National Park was established on 28 November 1997. At present the territory of the Directorate covers three counties, such as Pest, Fejér and Komárom-Esztergom.
It aims to preserve the typical, untouched, unspoilt landscape, the undisturbed wildlife, the wide variety of species, the clean waters; to protect the forests, the soil, and other renewable resources as well as the values of cultural history. When preparing the management plans, the park finds it extremely important to regulate game, forest and grassland management by taking the interests of the protected plant species and plant communities and the protected animals and communities into consideration.
